Slot Games

Slot games are popular games in casinos, pubs and restaurants throughout the world. These games are easy to play and full of hidden jackpots and bonuses.

Older versions of the game had levers on the side of the machine which would begin the spins but newer slot machines have buttons on the front of the machine.

These machines have different names in different countries. They are referred to as slots in Canada, one-armed bandits in the US, fruit machines in the UK and pokeys in Australia.

Platinum Play Canada offers players hundreds of slots games to choose from.

History of slots

The basic slot machine was developed by Charles Fey in the USA in 1887. This original prototype was called the Liberty Bell and had 3 spinning reels with 5 basic symbols: diamonds, spades, bells and diamonds.

From here the slot machine spread across the US and then on to the rest of the world. Originally, players did not win money, but rather a meal or a drink or even chewing gum from wherever they were playing, in order to bypass gambling laws.

A company called Bally was the first to develop the electromechanical slot machine game called Money Honey and this machine paid up to 500 coins automatically.

Slot games have now evolved from reel slots to video slots which have rich animation and sounds as well as massive jackpots and bonuses. Players can choose to play the classic reel slots or the more modern video slots.
